Paper 1: Procrastination Psychology

Review: Bad english, and a from a sketchy website, but it makes sense and goes along with other stuff I have read.

One of the things that prevents people form having success and being happy is procrastination. But not much people give a second though to this problem and in our modern society is becoming a growing problem with the so many options and technologies that can use every day. Its important to understand the psychology of procrastination so can prevent it. There are many reasons why people procrastinate and it depends form person to person, but there are some common things. The problem can be psychological or biological, but usually is a psychological problem that we have to overcome.

Avoiding doing things, could be because of low self esteem, lack of confidence, stress, anxiety and fear of not knowing what will be the end result. People that lack of self esteem tend to avoid doing and taking responsability of the important tasks, because they thing they cant do it or they think they dont have the necessary skills to do it well.

Another problem is that there are many people that have Attention Deficit Disorder, so they can focus a lot of time in one single task. People with ADD tend to do multiple tasks, but usually they dont finish them. So it can be seen as procrastination, because you are just losing time trying to accomplish multiple tasks are the same time.

The shortest way to your goal is a straight line, you need to focus on your objective and move forward even little by little, but without distractions or trying to do multiple things.

Fear is something that provokes people to procrastinate, when they have fear of failure or have a lot of doubts of how to do their work and how bad it can result, then they avoid doing the work the most time possible, they will do it at the last minute with pressure and stress.

Also people that procrastinate does not have passion for what they are doing, they feel that they have to do the work, but they dont feel any desire, its just something that has to be done, so the postpone it.

The psychology of procrastination can be complex and different in every person, but no matter what the reason is, it can overcome it if you follow a clear plan to achieve your goals and you find your true motivation.

Write down all your goals for the Next Day the previous night

Turn off all electronic devices and communication just use what you really need to accomplish your task, like paper, computer, etc.

Set a schedule for all your work tasks and dont stop until you have finished your tasks one by one
