How you disable IPServices depends on the quantity that you want to disable. There are two general situations:

1) Disable IP Services on only a few devices, most devices need to show the IP service.
    * Go into each device, select the IPService checkbox, dropdown menu > Services > Monitoring... > Disabled Repeat for each device. This is what you explained you did. Read below for more.

2) Disable IP Services on almost all devices, only need to see IP services on a few devices.
    * Turn off the monitoring of a IPService across the whole zenoss system, and then turn on each device that you DO want to monitor. Go to the left menu 'Services', find your IPService buried in the hierarchy, click the IPService to go into its details, select the 'Edit' tab, change monitored to False. Then on each specific device you DO want it monitor, follow the directions on 1) above, except set to Enabled.
